Eric created a wonderful second bathroom for us in our small russian river cottage that showcased his problem solving skills and creative design style. He encountered significant plumbing and electrical issues and gave us fair quotes for improving these important components of our home. He also did a marvelous job refinishing and shoring up our deck which allowed us to install a new hot-tub. He stayed in constant communication and provided updates through-out the project. Eric Wilson, owner of Specialty Improvements Unlimited, has completed three different projects for us in the last several years. The most recent was replacing water damaged external siding. Eric uses the best materials available and combines this with quality workmanship to deliver an outstanding product. I have used Eric Wilson, owner of Specialty Improvements Unlimited, for various projects over the past 15 years and they have been excellent in each of the projects they’ve done. I’ve found Eric to be very professional, and honest with high integrity and character.
Some of the smallest projects involved repairs and improvements of electrical and plumbing systems, demolition of various structures followed by associated repairs and construction, etc. More recently Eric and his crew completely remodeled our 1,200 sq foot home, and added an additional 1,300 sq feet to our home along with an enormous deck and staircase outside, resulting a new 2,500 sq foot home with a large stone fireplace, high ceilings, all new electrical, plumbing, a new septic system, etc. Eric worked closely with our architect, the county engineers and inspectors to make sure everything was done correctly, and I believe has their high respect as a General Contractor. Eric and his crew did and incredible job in every aspect of the construction, down to the final painting and total cleaning of the project. My wife and I never worried about anything they’ve done – it has always been “over-the-top” in all areas, and we highly recommend Eric Wilson and Specialty Improvements, Unlimited.

We have used Eric for small projects as well as large ones. Recently, we had him replace a poorly fitting, worn-out door from our house to our garage. He suggested installing a slightly wider, ADA-compliant door to replace it. Not only does the new door give us more room to enter/exit, but it is also better looking, better insulated, and better fitting than the old door. Needless to say, we are very happy with the new door installation and grateful to Eric for his expert advice and construction skills.

Installed a new door and way more. Our 47 year old house had original doors and windows. Over a year he replaced our doors, windows, some siding and then painted. Fantastic results.

Eric, again, completed an excellent job of bathroom remodeling for us. This was the second project that we contracted Eric for and we have no regrets. Two bathrooms in our Santa Rosa home completely remodeled from floor to ceiling with great communication, cleanliness and top quality standard of work.

I recently hired Eric Wilson of Specialty Improvements Unlimited to remodel both of my bathrooms.  I found him through Home Advisors.  He did a fantastic job!  “We” did one bathroom at a time so I always had a functional bathroom.

The first one, he gutted out the entire bathroom and started over.  We replaced the shower insert with pretty tile and built in a niche for my shampoo, etc., and a step for shaving my legs.  He put in all brushed nickel appliances, a new vanity, sink, toilet, flooring, canned lights in the ceiling with a fan, and a vanity light.  It looks awesome!  

The second bathroom was much more extensive.  I wanted a walk-in Jacuzzi, and not just a normal one; I wanted a two-seater so I could put my feet up.  Eric had to knock out a wall to install it.  There again, we remodeled the whole bathroom with new appliances, vanity, sink, toilet, flooring, canned lights in the ceiling with a fan, vanity light, dimmer switch, and we put in a 32” flat screen TV.  It turned out fabulous!!!  It is now my “spa bathroom.”

One thing about Eric is that he is not messy; he is extremely clean and neat.  He has a great team that works well with him.  They put down tarps and put up plastic walls, so the dust was nothing.  I work at home, and we worked together on when he could shut off the water or electricity.  It was minimal.  

As for pricing, I say if you want quality, you have to pay for quality.  Sure, I could have had a new shower insert installed, or called Bath Fitters and had a temporary fix to the situation, but I wanted bathrooms to last my lifetime.  

If you are looking for somebody who totally cares about your home, I suggest using Eric.  He is awesome!

We hired Eric of Specialty Improvements to help improve our “new” home. He was very professional and knowedgable about the various trades, always explained what he planned to do. He got back to me very quickly and was always on time, organised and conscientious and very thorough with every project.. He installed our new gas range, range hood, and reworked the kitchen sink with a small water heater (the big one is 2 ½ gallons away) We highly recommend him for any construction project.

Eric Wilson insulated my attic and did repairs there as well. He is personable, clear, professional and kind. The work was terrific and he followed his contract just as we discussed. It is hard to describe how hard he works, how caring he is the owner and work. He is a joy to work with. Great clean up and has been so helpful about questions I have had about future projects. Eric was exactly the contractor we needed. He visited the site, provided a timely estimate, and completed the deck project sooner than we anticipated. Eric always kept us informed about his plans and progress. Importantly, Eric recommended an improvement to plan that made sense, which was incorporated within these repairs. Eric also handled all specialized metal fabrications accurately and efficiently – something that I could never have done myself. He was always timely, well organized, and put in a full day. I am meticulous about wanting jobs done right the first time and up to my exacting standards, so I only hire Eric because I know and trust him. He has done everything from installing recessed lighting throughout my entire house (no easy task with extremely high, slanted, cathedral ceilings) and garage, installing plumbing fixtures and lighting fixtures, and everything in between—even hanging my artwork. Most recently a refrigerator on the top floor was hooked up improperly, causing water to slowly leak in between the wall and down to my second floor below. It suffered a good deal of water intrusion damage to two door frames, surrounding walls, and ceiling. He did an excellent job repairing/replacing the door frames and fixing the rest of the damage. I highly recommend Eric Wilson and those who work with him. He subcontracted to Shelter Glass for our new clear glass shower door – they do quality work for the lowest prices. Eric did an excellent job of adding a long safety bar and a new adjustable shower head to our Master bathroom. He specializes in fire and water damage repair, so felt very confident in his skills in updating our shower.

Our vacation house is a small 1932 bungalow-style house in desperate need of a new kitchen. It needed a new kitchen’s conveniences, but the design had to fit within the River vibe: casual but cool. We came up with a plan that maximized the small space using materials that delivered charm and character and worked with the rest of the home.
Eric started by identifying much-needed structural work in the basement beneath the kitchen. That work shored up the structure and added stability to this part of the home. This kitchen has several odd angles, imperfect measurements, and lots of quirks – that’s where Eric’s deep breadth of experience and knowledge is so invaluable.
